Day 1: Arrive into Buenos Aires
Today you’ll arrive into Buenos Aires ready for your adventure to begin! You can arrive at any time, just ensure that you’re in time to attend the Welcome Meeting early this evening. Your tour guide will brief you on the details of your trip during the meeting, and afterwards you can kick back and relax in your comfortable accommodation!
Day 2: Breathtaking Buenos Aires
You’ll have free time today to explore beautiful Buenos Aires! If there’s a football match on, head over to the local stadium to experience the energetic buzz of Buenos Aires’ dedicated fans! You could also visit the Malba museum to see works by iconic artists, or simply head to a green space to picnic in style and soak up the Buenos Aires atmosphere!
Other optional activities include a city bicycle tour and a Tango experience.

Day 3: Journey to Colonia
This morning, we’ll make a 1-hour ferry journey and cross the border into Uruguay. Once we’re in Colonia, we’ll go on a brief orientation walk and familiarize ourselves with the local area. After the walk, there’ll be free time to explore quaint Colonia and take in its picturesque charm. Visit one of Colonia’s many museums for a peek of Uruguay’s history, or simply stroll through the pretty streets and get amongst the locals for a relaxed afternoon.
Day 4: Colonia to Montevideo
We’ll board a local bus this morning to make the 3-hour journey to Montevideo. Once we’ve arrived, the afternoon is free to explore! Sports lovers might want to head over to Estadio Centenario – home of the very first World Cup! Alternatively, you may want to get to grips with Montevideo’s gorgeous scenery and hire a bike to cycle along the coast. Other optional activities include visiting the port market, or checking out the Museo del Carnaval. Breakfast included.
Day 5: Explore Montevideo
You have a full free day to explore Uruguay’s capital today! You’ll find a hub of activity in the Old Town, where cafes and restaurants meet beautiful architecture, and lovely markets where you can grab some souvenirs! Seek out a lively bar and experience ‘Candombe’, an uplifting music and dance experience that sees bands of musicians fill venues with soulful sounds! Breakfast included.
Day 6: Estancia Stay
Today, we’ll experience rustic Uruguay. We’ll be staying in a traditional estancia (working ranch) for a truly authentic introduction to rural life. Settle into your accommodation, wander the local area and gather around a campfire while sampling some delicious local wines. Breakfast, lunch and dinner included today.
Please note: If the group has 7 or more passengers a private van will be used. If there are 1-6 passengers the group will first board a public bus and continue by private van.
Day 7: Life on the Estancia
We’ll spend today at the estancia getting to grips with rural living! You’ll learn about the region’s intriguing history, help out at the ranch, or take a horseback ride through the countryside! Today is designed with you in mind, so you can get stuck in a much as you like or kick back to relax and recharge. The region has some great wines, so perhaps have a drink with your group and take advantage of the delicious local barbecues! Breakfast, lunch and dinner included today.
Day 8: Iguassu Falls
We’ll cross the border into Gualeguaychu, Argentina this morning for another stamp in your passport! We’ll then be boarding the overnight bus to Iguassu Falls. The journey should take between 16 and 18 hours, so bring some snacks and water and get settled in – your next dream destination awaits! Breakfast included.
Day 9: Hello Iguassu Falls!
We’ll journey to the captivating Iguassu Falls today, experiencing them from the Brazil side where you’ll enjoy stunning panoramic views! There are 275 different falls to experience so be sure to take some snapshots and take in the mind-blowing scenery. You’ll then have some free time to explore. Optional activities include visiting Parque das Aves, where you’ll be able to get up close and personal with the resident bird population, or checking out the Itaipú Dam, the world’s largest hydroelectric power plant.
Day 10: Iguassu Falls
Today, we’ll take a full day trip to the Argentinian side of the falls! We’ll cross the border into Argentina and spend the day discovering the paths near the stunning falls. You can even opt to experience the falls in style on a boat tour (extra cost). Following our day at the falls we’ll head back to the hotel to relax after our amazing excursion. Breakfast included.
Day 11: Iguassu Falls to Paraty
We’ll board an early flight to Sao Paulo this morning! The journey is approximately 1 and a half hours, giving us more time to get to know Paraty once we arrive! Once we’ve touched down in Sao Paulo, we’ll board a private vehicle to make the journey to Paraty (approximately 6 hours). Paraty is a beautiful coastal town famed for its pristine colonial architecture, and you’ll love its relaxed charm! We’ll check into our guest house once we’ve arrived to relax after the journey.
Day 12: Discover Paraty
Despite its relaxed vibe, Paraty is the perfect base for adventure! If you’d like a relaxed day, explore the quaint streets or top up your tan on the beach. Strolling through Paraty is like stepping back into Brazil’s history, and the town has been completely pedestrianised in order to preserve its laid-back lifestyle. Alternatively, get involved with snorkeling or horse-riding! Paraty offers something for everyone, and your guide will be on hand to advise you on the best activities to get involved with!
Day 13: Paraty to Ilha Grande
This morning we’ll board a bus to make the scenic journey further along the coast, and then take a ferry to Ilha Grande! Ilha Grande features tranquil beaches and picturesque bays – the perfect place to relax! We’ll be calling Ilha Grande home for the next few nights, so use the afternoon to explore this idyllic island and get settled into your comfortable guest house. Breakfast included today.
Day 14: Beautiful Ilha Grande!
Enjoy a full free day to make the most of this gorgeous island. There’s a lot to get stuck into, so ask your guide for some recommendations and get involved with whatever suits you! You can choose to hike through some scenic trails or rent a bike to explore the town. Other optional activities snorkeling in the shallows around the island or diving around beautiful coral reefs.
Day 15: Ilha Grande to Rio de Janeiro
We’ll travel to Rio today to experience the bold city buzz after our relaxing Ilha Grande stay! When we arrive, it’s up to you what you do. Head to a beach for a game of volleyball, rent a bike and cycle through Rio’s lush rainforest or head over to see Rio’s iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. This evening, experience the music of Rio at a live music hall and get to know the party spirit that makes Rio so enticing!
Day 16: Explore Rio
Enjoy a full day to discover all that Rio has to offer. Why not take a city tour and take in Rio’s top highlights, including the multi-coloured Lapa Steps and the mighty Sugarloaf Mountain? Alternatively, catch a football game with the locals.
Day 17: Farewell
You can depart at any time today, and if you’re travelling onwards your guide will be happy to help you to make arrangements. Leave riveting Rio with a smile on your face – it’s been a whirlwind of adventure and we’re sure South America will pull you back soon! Breakfast included today.

You’ll be staying in simple but comfortable hotels and hostels for 13 nights of your trip, accommodation will be a mix of twin and multi-share accommodation. You’ll be staying in a traditional estancia for 2 nights of your trip, on a multi-share basis. On one night you’ll be on an overnight bus.

You’ll need to arrive into Ministro Pistarini International Airport (EZE) which is more commonly referred to as ‘Ezeiza’ on your programme start date. There is an early evening Welcome Meeting scheduled on your programme start date, so you should plan to arrive in time for this so that you’ll be able to meet your fellow travellers and ask any questions you may have about the trip. This trip ends in Rio on the final day of the tour, there are no activities scheduled on your programme end date, so you are free to depart at any time to stay on and explore Rio for a little longer. Rio’s airport is Rio de Janerio Galeao International Airport (GIG).

Can I Travel Solo?
Absolutely! You won’t have to pay a supplement if you’re travelling solo, and there’s no need to worry as most of our travellers travel solo so you’ll be in great company! Our trips are social and you’re bound to meet loads of interesting people, so lots of travellers opt to participate alone. Similarly, you can participate in this trip with a friend or boyfriend/girlfriend.
Can You Tell Me Anything About My Guide?
You’ll be accompanied on your tour by a local representative who will make travelling much more fun and easy! Your guide will provide you with all the information you need about your destinations and give you informed advice about things to see in your free time and where to eat!
What Happens If I Experience Arrival Complications?
We don’t expect you to encounter any problems, but if you do you should contact your starting hotel as soon as possible in order to speak to your guide or leave a message for them. If you cannot get in touch with your guide please refer to the emergency contact details listed in your online account, which you’ll have access to once you’ve booked your trip. It’s a good idea to have these details easily accessible while you are travelling.
Can I Opt For My Own Room?
You can opt for your own room. This will incur an additional cost, and you’ll have your own room for every night apart from the nights during the estancia stay and the overnight bus. If you would like to book your own room, please contact us for further details.
Do I Need Any Vaccinations For This Trip?
We are not medically trained, so we are not legally able to advise you on this. We recommend making an appointment with your doctor 6-8 weeks before you travel to find out about any vaccinations or medication you might need. Take a copy of your itinerary with you to show your GP.
