How to Travel and Boost Your CV at the Same Time

Want to give your CV a massive boost, but not sure how? Travelling can prove to be a game changer on your resume, especially if you make an extra special effort to do something which will make you stand out from the crowd. Talking points in interviews – check, once in a lifetime experiences – check… 'check' out how you can become of those lucky travelers below:

Volunteering

Volunteering is a fantastic way to get experience – not only as you'll be showing your dedication to helping a less fortunate community abroad, but you'll be showcasing examples of team work, enthusiasm and diligence on a daily basis. It definitely takes a 'certain type' of person to volunteer, and that'll speak volumes to your future employer.

Internships

Here at Gap 360 we're a massive believer of internships in general; not only do they enable you to see inside a business, but it also means you can weigh up as to whether you can see yourself within a similar career path for the next X years. We have internships based all over the world, so not only will your new experience shine through but a snazzy location will too. If you're applying for a job which could benefit from the skills you gained whilst interning make your future employer well aware of this, for all you know they may be looking for somebody with international experience.

Once in a Lifetime Experiences

You know those experiences that everybody has on their bucket lists? Climbing Machu Picchu or Mount Kilimanjaro, exploring the Amazon rainforest or scuba diving in the Great Barrier Reef? There's a reason why everybody wants to do them/why travellers relentlessly talk about it, and that's because they're AWESOME. Not only will you have something major to talk about in an interview, but it'll show employers that you're willing to put yourself out of your comfort zone.

Looking after yourself for months on the road is no mean feat, and there's no denying that backpacking can provide one hell of a life experience! Not only will you be able to show off where you've been, but you can properly pump up what you did too – especially if you climbed Kilimanjaro, lived with lion cubs or coached kids how you play football in Rio. Travelling will make you stand out – you'll show that you have a zest for life.
