Trip Inspiration: Komodo Island Hopper

When we're dreaming of white-sand beaches and shimmering turquoise waters, there’s one place that truly delivers on all that paradise: Indonesia. Say Indonesia to a traveller and they’ll most likely think of Bali, which has become one of the most popular destinations in Southeast Asia. But Indonesia as a whole is made up of around 17, 500 islands, all of which deserve exploration! Our Komodo Island Hopper tour takes you to some of Indonesia’s lesser known islands, and shows you a slice of an authentic and undiscovered region.

What?

This 9-day group tour is jam-packed with unique experiences and unforgettable excursions. You’ll meet a Sasak community in the jungle, swim with manta rays, and get up close to the mighty Komodo dragon. You’ll also enjoy 3 days on a live-aboard boat, including snorkel and beach stop-offs, and a tour around idyllic Moyo Island with a local guide. All your accommodation is included, as well as your transport between the islands. It’s dreamy from start to finish!

Where?

Indonesia spans thousands of Islands between the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, and is located on the borders of Malaysia, the Philippines, Australia, and a few other Southeast Asian countries. Some 7,000 of its islands are uninhabited, while many others are only sparsely inhabited. You’ll hop between several gorgeous Indonesian islands on this trip, including Lombok, Sumbawa, Komodo, Padar and more.

Who?

This trip is ideal for slightly more experienced travellers who are looking for a bit of extra adventure. You’ll head off the beaten track, and stay in locations with limited amenities for Western tourists. You’ll eat and drink local, and stay in simple accommodation. If you’re a first-time traveller looking for an easier introduction to this part of the world, why not combine this trip with our Bali Intro, which will ease you into life in Indonesia before you explore the more remote areas on this trip.

When?

This trip runs between April and November, avoiding the peak rainy season of December to March. This period is perfect for water-based activities, and you’ll enjoy snorkelling and boat trips during your time here. Between June and August, the temperature is comfortable in the high 20s and there are relatively few rainy days. The surrounding months are equally nice and any rain usually passes over fairly quickly.
