There are two options for this trip:
- Option 1: 4-week trip
- Option 2: 6-week trip
The 4-week trip includes a camping safari adventure in Kruger NP, a 2-week volunteer experience in Eswatini, and a week on the beaches of Mozambique. The 6-week option includes all of the above, plus two extra weeks of volunteering in Eswatini after your Mozambique experience. Please select your preferred duration at time of booking.
The itinerary will run as follows:
Days 1-2: Arrival
Fly into O.R Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg, on day 1, where you will be met by a member of our in-country team and transferred to Eswatini. Be sure to arrive before 1pm. On day 2, you'll have a detailed briefing of the itinerary by your expedition leader.
Day 3-7: Kruger National Park Camping Safari
Your tour starts in one of the most famous conservation areas in Africa – Kruger National Park. You’ll be with an expert guide and head out on safari drives to spot beautiful wildlife in their natural habitat. You have a good chance of catching sight of lions, rhinos, elephants, buffaloes, leopards and wild dogs! The evenings will be spent camping under beautiful starry skies.
We then turn southwards and head for Eswatini. It’s time to prep for your community development projects!
Day 8-20: Volunteer Projects, Eswatini
Time to work with communities that really need your help. There are a range of projects that you can get involved with, including:
- Childcare. Help in pre-schools that care for vulnerable children.
- Building. Lay bricks for new classrooms and maintain the gardens around the school.
- Sports. Help run sports games and other fun activities!
A typical day will usually involve volunteering in the morning, normally between 9am and 12pm plus travelling time to your centre. You'll need to budget up to R15 per day for travelling.
You'll return to your accommodation for lunch, before heading back out for more volunteering! You’ll finish at around 4:30pm. The rest of the day is free to relax by the pool and chat with your fellow volunteers.
Please note: if you choose the 4-week programme, you will not be involved in childcare volunteering. 6-week volunteers can be involved in childcare as this extended period allows for more continuity for the children.
Day 21-26: Marine conservation tour, Tofo Beach, Mozambique
Next up: a week of relaxation on the idyllic tropical ocean beaches of Mozambique.
We’ll be here for five days, so there’s plenty of opportunity to try out beach life Mozambique-style. You’ll be sleeping in reed huts, dorm-style, among the coconut palms on the very edge of the ocean. Activities here include an ocean safari, during which you’ll get up close and personal to whale sharks in the balmy ocean. And there’s a unique opportunity to go on an ocean kayak expedition, crossing calm blue water and exploring the beautiful islands of the Inhambane Bay.
On day 27, you will depart Mozambique and transfer to your accommodation in Eswatini.
4-WEEK OPTION: Day 28: Time to say Goodbye
You’ll spend the final full day of your Kruger to Coast Volunteer Adventure back at the lodge in the Ezulwini Valley where we started out. On day 29 you will be transferred to O.R Tambo for your flight. (Please ensure that your flight departs after 2:30pm)
If 4 weeks isn't long enough for you on this amazing trip, then why not extend your African adventure and stay for an extra 2 weeks on our 6-week option?
6-WEEK OPTION: Day 28-40: Volunteer Projects, Eswatini
After the beaches of Mozambique you'll return to the volunteer project in Eswatini for the final couple of weeks. The children will definitely be pleased to see you again, and by choosing the 6-week option you will have the chance to be much more involved with the day to day care of the children at the centre, allowing you to have much more interaction with them, and even helping out with teaching. Working with the children for this longer period is a super-rewarding experience!
Day 41-43: Departure
On day 41 you'll have a full weekend relaxing. Or you can get in some last-minute hiking and exploring before preparing to leave after the weekend. Most trips include a meeting on arrival with the guide or local team to discuss the trip, and this is an opportunity for you to ask any questions. You should arrive in time to attend these briefings.
Emergency support 24/7

Whilst there may be changes on our trips, it is vital that you make travelling safer for yourself, your travel companions, the local staff and guides, and the people of the country you are visiting. You should follow all local laws and restrictions, and follow the guidance of the local team. In addition, you can help make travel safer by bringing and using your own face coverings/masks and hand sanitiser, social distance where appropriate, wash your hands frequently, and cover your face when coughing or sneezing.
