5 week East Coast Experience

Day 1: Sydney.
G'day partners and welcome to sunny Sydney! Meet your group and take a tour of the city, including the Opera House, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Darling Harbour and Chinatown. Then settle down on the overnight coach as we head up the coast to hippy Byron.

Days 2 - 5: Byron Bay. Spend the next couple of days mellowing out in laid-back Byron. We’ll take a walk up to the Lighthouse, make like the locals with a surf lesson, get our zen on with a morning yoga session and enjoy a tasty cheese and wine night.

Days 6 - 8: Surfers Paradise. Make tracks for the vibrant beach community of Surfers Paradise. Hit the waves or just relax on the golden sands. After dark, the fun really starts in Surfers. We’ll enjoy a traditional barbie on one of our nights here and explore the bars and clubs after.

Days 9 – 10: Brisbane. Spend today getting to know beautiful Brisbane, with a stop to cool off in the manmade lagoon at Streets Beach. When the sun goes down, freshen up and head out for a night of bar-hopping and fun, Brissy style.

Days 11 – 12: Noosa. Head to the tranquil beach resort of Noosa for warm, turquoise waters, lush rainforest and a gorgeous coastline. Take a hike, watch the sun go down, and explore the forest walking trails – just amazing.

Days 13 – 14: Rainbow Beach. Rainbow Beach is so much more than just a jump-off point to K'gari (formerly known as Fraser Island). Check out its sandy beach, discover its colourful cliffs, and party hard in the many bars and clubs. Our second day here starts early with an amazing dolphin experience – you’ll never forget this.

Days 15 – 17: K'gari Island. Hop on the boat to K'gari for three days of riding the dunes in a 4x4, swimming in shimmering lakes, and views to-die-for. We’ll camp out under the stars for two nights before travelling back to Rainbow Beach for another night out on the town.

Days 18 – 20: Town of 1770. Prepare to chill in the laid-back Town of 1770. Take a walk on the beach, relax by the pool or join an optional scooteroo tour. On day 20 we’ll take the overnight bus to Airlie Beach – sit back and relax.

Day 21: Airlie Beach. Arrive in Airlie Beach and jump into the harbour-front lagoon – what a start to the day! The rest of the day’s yours to enjoy lively Airlie, so hit the backpacker bars, or turn in early, ahead of your Whitsundays cruise.

Days 22 – 23: Whitsundays. Set sail for one of the most beautiful places on Earth – the Whitsundays. Jump off the yacht into the bluest sea you’ve ever seen, walk down untouched crescents of white sand, snorkel over coral reefs and spend your nights on deck with a canopy of stars overhead – this is living.

Days 24 – 25: Airlie Beach. Spend two days in the party town of Airlie Beach. Hang by the lagoon, explore the national park and take an optional helicopter ride over the Whitsundays. After dark, it’s all about the bars and pubs.

Days 26 – 28: Magnetic Island. Beautiful Magnetic Island is next. Walk the picturesque hiking trails, join a guided forts walk, hire a 4x4 barbie car and get properly off the beaten track, or just kick back on the immaculate beaches and drink in the sun.

Days 29 – 30: Mission Beach. Ready for the next slice of paradise? Discover more dazzling beaches, explore the national park, home to the Dijuru Aboriginal people, and take an optional white water rafting or skydiving experience. Don’t miss a sunrise while you’re here – they’re out of this world.

Days 31 – 35: Cairns. The bustling backpacker city of Cairns is our last destination on this leg of the trip. Visit the Atherton Tablelands for waterfalls, rainforest hikes and rolling green hills. We’ll pay a visit to none other than the Great Barrier Reef, to snorkel with an amazing array of marine life, then the last two days are yours.

Day 36: Trip end. Say goodbye to your friends and get ready to head back to Sydney for the next stage of your adventure Down Under! Flight from Cairns to Sydney is not included in the programme price but our flights team will be able to help you book this.

Due to Covid-19, many of our partners and suppliers across the globe are putting in place new procedures and policies regarding health and safety in response to the outbreak. These new measures will adapt and change as the state of travel evolves, and the policies and procedures will vary depending on each trip. Some changes that you may experience on our trips are:

Updated safety & hygiene procedures
Health and safety measures will be adapted by our partners and suppliers, dependent on local laws and restrictions.

Different transport & accommodation
You may find yourself on transport or in accommodation that would not typically be used, such as hostels that are more secluded, or on more private transport. This may vary by trip, or even by individual departure dates.

Arrival meetings
Most trips include a meeting on arrival with the guide or local team to discuss the trip, and this is an opportunity for you to ask any questions. You should arrive in time to attend these briefings.

Emergency support 24/7
We have a UK based 24/7 emergency phone line if you have a genuine urgent matter that you need attending.

We can help answer any questions or concerns you may have before you depart. Whilst travelling the guide or local team on our trips are there to help, and to ensure the smooth running of our trips.

Medical care
Should you require medical assistance whilst travelling, the local team or guide will be able to help you get to a point of care. Medical facilities and standards can vary across the glove, so you should ensure you have adequate travel insurance in place.

Varying group sizes
To begin with, many trips will run with amended group sizes, so you may find smaller groups than would be typical. This may vary by trip, or even by individual departure dates.

Whilst there may be changes on our trips, it is vital that you make travelling safer for yourself, your travel companions, the local staff and guides, and the people of the country you are visiting. You should follow all local laws and restrictions, and follow the guidance of the local team. In addition, you can help make travel safer by bringing and using your own face coverings/masks and hand sanitiser, social distance where appropriate, wash your hands frequently, and cover your face when coughing or sneezing.
