Gap year Guatemala

Guatemala is a fascinating and beautiful land, ideal for gap year travel. It was the centre of the Mayan empire from 4000BC until the Spanish conquest, and it’s the remains from this period, particularly the pyramids at Tikal, that dominate. Around them, though, are volcanoes, beaches and a variety of ecosystems ranging from mangrove swamps to cloud forest.
