Formerly known as British Honduras, Belize gained its independence in 1981 and is still a developing nation. It is a small country with a population of less than 350,000 people but attracts visitors keen to explore the mystery of Mayan sites including Altun Ha or Lamanai, snorkel the cayes such as the breathtaking Caye Caulker and enjoy a Central American adventure.
The Belize barrier reef, a UNESCO world heritage site, is the second largest in the world and boasts an incredible spectacle of marine life. As a result it's a great place for scuba diving with sites such as the Blue Hole being world renowned on the dive circuit.
Whether you're an experienced scuba diver or a complete novice there's plenty of great diving at all levels. Our Marine Conservation project also enables you to take your PADI Open Water Course so is the perfect opportunity for you to get qualified and explore the underwater world.

This 4 week programme is designed and run by marine science professionals, to give 8 students and graduates from all areas of Marine Sciences practical experience and insight into thier chosen career by working alongside a team of researchers and government authorities in Belize, home to the second largest reef system in the world.
