Gap year Greece
Land of cloudless blue skies, sugar-cube houses, magnificent ruins, olive groves and endless azure sea, Greece is everything you’d expect it to be and more. The sun-bleached islands get a lot of attention (and rightly so – they’re gorgeous), but the interior of the country with its mountainous landscapes, quaint little towns and sensational archaeological sites has much to recommend it as well. You could spend a lifetime exploring the riches of this magical country, but if you’ve got a year, you can make a good start. Follow a classic island-hopping trail (there’s over 200 islands!), walk in the footsteps of the first Olympians, hike spectacular gorges, tuck into dolmades, souvlakiand Greek salad with the life-loving locals, and wash it all down with a fiery glass of ouzo – Yamas!
Adventure travel Greece
Greece can be as laid-back or as high-octane as you like. With an endless coastline, water sports are a given – most of the islands offer opportunities for windsurfing, wreck-diving and sea-kayaking. Head away from the coast and into the rugged interior of the mainland and you’ll find mountain-biking, canyoning and hiking opportunities galore.
